Welcome to Wes's Site
Introductions
I'm Wes Gurley. Just a normal guy leading an average life with friends, family, and everyone else I share this world with. So odds are, if you are here, that you have met me. It may have been at school, at work, or at one function or another with my friends. I told you that I have my own website that you should check out and here you are! On the off chance that you stumbled across my site without meeting me first, you are welcome to browse around this site and get to know me and my activities better. So, what can you find here? Well, anything and everything that I can think of to put on here that others may find useful or at least entertaining. Mostly, I will be updating various sections of my own interests like: tabletop gaming, video games, cooking, making money, travel, and my life in general.
Tabletop Gaming
I've been playing tabletop RPG's since I was seventeen years old and trading card games and board games for even longer. I've fought monsters in The Forgotten Realms. I've traversed the dusty plains of the old west. I've even flown a spaceship and commanded a crew. I've played Friday Night Magic and won my fair share of tournaments. I've learned to d-d-d-d-d-duel like the like the pharaoh himself and I've battled a few gym leaders with my Pokémon team. I know when to hold 'em and when to fold 'em. I know when to walk away and when to run. The world of tabletop gaming is diverse and ever growing and I've made tons of friends along the way. I even met my wife at a dungeons and dragons game! I have a YouTube channel devoted to teaching people about tabletop role playing games and I will eventually put links to those videos here.
Cooking
My love of cooking was instilled in me at a very young age by my mother, Pam Gurley, and my MawMaw, Martha Steadman. Both of these strong willed women taught me that if you like eating something then there is no reason that you can't make it yourself. Living as a broke college student and a bachelor tempered that ideal and made me into an adventurous cook. I'll try to make anything and if I don't like it the first time I'll keep making it and tweaking it until I do. I truly love Asian cooking. Just the fact that I can do most of it in one wok is enough to make me enjoy it. I am true to my Alabama roots however and can make a number of southern delicacies and staples. I'll be utilizing the cooking page on my site to post recipes, tips and tricks, and pictures of my successes and maybe some failures. (probably not)
Business
Currently, I am working in the manufactured housing industry as a salesman. I've always liked sales. I think it's mostly because enjoy helping others and seeing the joy that something I helped them get gives them. Don't get me wrong I also enjoy getting a paycheck, but doing something that gives you fulfillment while also filling your bank account is the goal of every working person I've ever met. I've also considered opening my own business. Retail or restaurant seems to be my current leaning but who knows where the future will take me. I will likely use the business page and its subpages to further my goals at my current career while keeping a log of my musings about starting a business.
Life
I've got a pretty great life. I've got a wife, Kayla, whom I love dearly. I've got a daughter, Angel, and I'll have a son, Alex, as of November 2021. I've got a great family who I know I can fall back on when times are hard and have a great time with when they're easy. I've got more friends than I can count and that number keeps growing. We live in Alabama and while it's not the perfect place by any means, it's home. I'll likely post achievements and events in my about sections as well as a log of anything I think is worth noting.
